Lyon survives selection call as Renshaw locked in to open
Nathan Lyon survives the selection call, while Matt Renshaw is locked in to open for Australia in the second Test against Bangladesh in Mackay.
Australia have confirmed a key selection decision ahead of the second Test against Bangladesh in Mackay, with Nathan Lyon surviving the selection call and Matt Renshaw locked in to open.
Jake Weatherald, who opened alongside Travis Head in the first Test, has been dropped from the squad ahead of the second Test, which begins on Saturday.
The decision brings Renshaw into the opening combination as Australia look to strengthen their batting line-up and build on their performance from the opening Test.
Lyon's place in the side had also been a talking point ahead of the selection, but the experienced spinner has retained his spot for the second Test.
Australia will now head into the Mackay Test with Renshaw set to take on the responsibility at the top of the order, while Weatherald misses out after the opening match of the series.
